FETHİYE

FETHİYE

One of the towns of Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, Fethiye is a touristic place with beautiful nature and historical places.

Fethiye is on a secluded bay forming a natural marina dotted with islands. Like a typical seaside village, there are masses of shops, cafes and restaurants all open till after midnight, selling every kind of food from freshly caught fish to kebab, from pizza to world cuisine.

Walk along the marina, walk through the souvenir shops, get your loved ones gifts, leather goods, spices, plants, table clothes, quilts and anything you can think of. Visit the marina especially during sunset, and don’t forget to sip a Turkish coffee in one of the street cafes.

AROUND FETHİYE

Besides having wonderful beaches, Fethiye is also a perfect spot for people interested in mythology.

The mysteries of the gods of ancient mythology still linger in the remote caves and bays of the Gulf of Fethiye. The most popular are the temples of Apollo; God of music, poetry, plague, oracles, sun, medicine, light and knowledge and Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt, Forests and Hills, the Moon.

The myths say that Apollo was born in Patara, the main port of Lycia, to the south of Xanthos and Letoon. You can find magical remains of ancient civilisations everywhere in this region, which is also known for the hospitality and cheerful friendliness of its people.

If you are not into mythology, you can take the 90 minute ferry service to the island of Rhodes.
